CoreIMS™ Press Releases

MSG Marketing, an Illinois based designer, manufacturer and distributor of curtain rods and accessories for Bed, Bath & Beyond has expanded operations with the help of CorePartners, Inc. of Frederick, Maryland. This effort involves customized CoreIMS™ Enterprise Inventory Management application along with barcode scanning and printing hardware to meet changing needs in a fast paced environment.

MSG was looking for an inventory management solution to manage a high volume flow of goods to meet specific shipping demands and compliance with BBB’s EDI program.  Making use of CorePartners 50 plus years of combined operational experience in the industry (warehousing, materials management, inventory control, supply chain management, software development) MSG was able to not only meet their customer needs, but to also double their ability to ship and receive goods to BBB locations in terms of volume.

CorePartners reviewed MSG Marketing’s business needs and matched them to the standard functions provided by CoreIMS™ EE Inventory Management Software.  Many of their business needs were met by CoreIMS EE of the shelf software. MSG Marketing’s unique EDI requirements were fulfilled by CorePartners highly trained software development team. Currently, MSG Marketing posts shipping orders to CoreIMS™ EE via an order import from their business system, allocates stock to orders based on FIFO, prints a UCC 128 labels for each carton to be shipped, prints BOLs and manifests for the carriers delivering the product to the customer request pool point ship-to, and generates EDI 945 ASN to advise the customer what product on what sales order has been shipped on which trailer by which carrier.

CoreIMS™ EE Inventory Management Software provides to MSG Marketing with the tool by which they can receive and putaway newly receive inventory quickly and accurately. Goods are handled in the warehouse very efficiently using the technology and workflow that make sense in that warehouse. The outbound EDI allows their Customer to better manage the flow of material through the Ship-to Points and on to the Retail Store. MSG Marketing’s performance to their customer’s scorecard is very, very good.

About CoreIMS™ EE Inventory Management Software

CoreIMS™ Enterprise Edition Inventory Management package encompasses the complete functionality of CoreIMS™ Standard Edition Inventory Management System, with additional features such as item ownership, batch order processing , warehouse charge accumulation and reporting for 3rd partly logistics operators.

Inventory Management Software adds the operational requirements needed by companies who need to manage the inventory. For the accountant, inventory is the value of goods held by the company. The value is calculated by receipts and shipments. For operations, inventory is all of the goods held in a warehouse. Inventory Management Software is the tool by which the operations staff finds the inventory to fill the needs of the company; that is, where is the Item that is needed. Location of specific inventory is the simplest need. Depending on the industry and company, there are many other attributes that might be needed to operate the business – lot or serial number (for tracking from manufacturer to ship-to), date received (to allow FIFO use), expiration date (to support FEFO use), and the list could goes on. These attributes are not available in an Inventory Accounting System.

CorePartners, Inc., (CPI) is a high technology computer and software engineering Company that has built a reputation for excellence in custom software development, IT consulting and web based applications specializing in logistics.

Industry-leading inventory management software company, Core Inventory Management Systems (CoreIMS), is proud to announce that it has been recommended by the Inspector General of the Department of Defense (DoD) as the official system for inventory management of the Combined Security Transition Command–Afghanistan (CSTC-A).

In a 2009 memorandum released by the U.S. DoD that reviewed equipment accountability for the Afghanistan National Army, the Inspector General recommended CoreIMS inventory software as a valuable asset in the management of vehicles and radios.

Under the sub-head “Recommendations, Management Comments, and Our Response,” the report suggested that CoreIMS software be “Designate[d] as the official system for tracking vehicles and radios issued to the Afghanistan National Army and enforce the system’s use.”

CSTC-A responded positively to the Inspector General’s recommendation.

“The CSTC-A Deputy Commanding General agreed and stated that CoreIMS is being used to track vehicles and radios at ANA Depot 1 and Depot 2. An enhanced CoreIMS is being implemented to improve functionality and accountability. Currently, classroom instruction is being conducted for both ANA and U.S. personnel on use of the upgraded system. In addition, CSTC-A provided additional comments to ensure the recommendation did not limit their use to a particular brand of software.”

The demand for U.S. warehouse space moved from the recovery phase to the expansion phase in the 4th quarter of 2012–a trend that is projected to continue through 2014, according to CoStar Group.

According to CoStar’s 2012 Year-End Industrial Review and Outlook, there was a positive net absorption of warehouse space across the U.S. late in the year, lowering the vacancy rate to 8.9 per cent among the 210 markets tracked by CoStar, a decline of 30 basis points.

CoStar markets logged 103.8 million square feet of net absorption in 2012, with positive space absorbed in 151 markets accounting for 120.7 million square feet and 59 still reporting negative absorption totaling an extremely low -16.6 million. The 7 million square feet of negative absorption in the fourth quarter was the lowest quarterly total since 2005.

According to Rene Circ, director of industrial research for CoStar’s Property and Portfolio Research (PPR), and Senior Economist Shaw Lupton, in spite of increased warehouse leasing in the fourth quarter, current market projections suggest that leasing velocity remains weak. The two real estate economists noted, however, that the 4th quarter conditions show ripeness for improvement as both tenant move-ins and move-outs are running below historical averages, suggesting a set stage for new demand growth and increased net absorption in 2013.

“On net, this was a landmark [fourth] quarter in the sense that we’re finally in the black in terms of overall demand,” Lupton said.

In addition to demand gains in larger, newer building coveted by national distributors, “we’ve just recently started to see increasing improvements in the rest of the market as demand spills over in the widening economic recovery, including an improvement in the housing market.”

“After everything the industrial market’s been through in this cycle, including the worst demand losses on record, this is one of the reasons we like this sector in a slow-growth economy,” Lupton said.

Larger Warehouse Space Calls for Stronger Inventory Management

With companies investing in larger warehouse spaces, there is room for increased inventory volume. It also means more room for error–but it does not have to. CoreIMS inventory management software helps vendors manage multiple items, vendors, and customers all from one program.

CoreIMS software is a powerful application that manages all of a company’s critical information all in one place. It includes great features like easy to generate timely reports, readily available product availability information for customers and more.

With the warehousing market projected for continued growth over the next couple of years, there is no better time than now to invest in new inventory management software from CoreIMS!

To better address the issue of inventory management across multiple locations and warehouses, CoreIMS, developed by CorePartners, Inc., has developed its Enterprise Edition (EE) version of its inventory management software.

The Jersey Shore, where hundreds of homes were swept away or damaged in Superstorm Sandy, should be rebuilt, but with new, stricter building codes to protect against future storms, a poll of New Jersey voters said on Tuesday.

If given the choice, voters said the state government in Trenton, rather than local governments, should pay for the recovery, including rebuilding beach front boardwalks, according to the poll by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

“Rebuilding will take a few years, most New Jersey residents agree,” said Quinnipiac’s Maurice Carroll. “Voters throughout the state think Trenton should help pay to restore the boardwalks and they’d like Trenton, not local communities, to pick up the overall bill.”

Seven in 10 New Jersey voters favored rebuilding the Jersey Shore under stricter building codes, including three-quarters of shore residents. Only 18 percent said owners should be allowed to build with no changes to building codes and 9 percent said there should be no rebuilding.

New Jersey has put a preliminary $29.4 billion price tag on recovery from the October 29 storm that raked the Northeast. Recover in New York was estimated to cost $32.8 billion.

The brunt of the rebuilding effort will be handled by independent contractors, who will, in turn, utilize resources and building materials from a range of supply warehouses.

If you own one of these warehouses, and it is less than 100,000 square feet, CoreIMS™ can manage it. If you deal with multiple items, vendors and customers then CoreIMS™ will manage it! If you are tired of not knowing how much inventory you have or where it is, if your office staff is buried in labor-intensive paperwork CoreIMS™ can free them to do more productive work.

With CoreIMS™ you will have a powerful application that will keep all your critical information in one place. You can generate timely reports that help you manage your business. Your customers can access information on product availability online and track their shipments.

Rebuilding has just begun, and is a ways away from being complete. This huge project can only get easier if your company invests in CoreIMS™ inventory software. Help do your part, and do it efficiently!

New Features in CoreIMS QuickBooks Interface

CoreIMSQB 3.5 Release Notes

NEW: Export Credit Memo

Export Credit Memo shall be used for processing returns from Customer. It queries CoreIMS Receiving Orders and Receiving History for orders with “RMA type”. “Receive From” drop down should be referenced to Quick Books Customer code.

How to use this feature:

  • Add type for returns in CoreIMS->Setup->Order Type (e.g. RMA or Returns)
  • Select this type as “RMA Type” on CoreIMSQB -> Setting screen
  • If Customer is returning item, open CoreIMS->Companies and mark this Customer as “Vendor”. It will add Customer Code to “Receive From” selection on Receiving Order screen
  • Create new Receiving order and specify your “RMA Type” as Order type. Receive items on your Inventory
  • Export Credit Memo in CoreIMSQB->Export->Credit Memo

NEW: Export Build Assembly (available only with Quick Books 2006)

Export of Build Assembly shall be used when Inventory Assemblies are setup in Quick Books and then processed in CoreIMS as “Build Kits”.

How to use this feature:

  • Perform Build Kit operation(s) in CoreIMS
  • Export results as Build Assembly in CoreIMSQB->Build Assembly
  • Assembly specification should be as close as possible to the Kit specification for the best results, because QuickBooks doesn’t allow to report exact list of components used for each build

IMPROVED: Export Inventory Adjustments

CoreIMSQB for Export of Inventory Adjustment extended with ability to setup Adjustment Account for positive and negative adjustments. In older versions Inventory Asset account was used as Adjustment account and it was necessary to change account in QuickBooks after each inventory adjustment. Improved interface will allow posting adjustment on the correct account and splitting positive and negative adjustments. Sample: kitting operations in CoreIMS should use COGS account to post negative adjustment for all components and Inventory account to post positive adjustments for Kits.

How to use this feature:

  • Setup default accounts on CoreIMSQB->Settings screen
  • If necessary change adjustment account on CoreIMSQB->Export Inventory Adjustment screen for particular export

IMPROVED: Export Invoices

CoreIMSQB will add Ship Via if it is not found in QuickBooks Ship Via list. Older versions error if Ship Via is not found in QuickBooks.

EXTENDED: Settings and Automatic Import/Export

Settings screen was modified to include setup of “RMA Type”, Accounts for Positive and Negative inventory adjustments and automatic export of Credit Memo and export Build Assemblies (only with QuickBooks 2006).
